Dr. Rajat Jain has done his graduation (mbbs) from kasturba medical college, mangalore. He then completed his post graduation from the prestigious sawai man singh medical college, jaipur. After his pg, his keen interest in corneal diseases made him persue research at the all india institute of medical sciences (aiims), delhi. His work and work ethics at the institute were praised and he was selected to be a cornea consultant at l v prasad eye institute, bhubaneshwar branch. He has performed numerous cataract surgeries including complex surgeries, cataract surgeries after ocular trauma and cataract surgeries in children. He is an excellent cornea diagnostician and surgeon and has performed cornea transplants that include transplants even in babies. Besides, he is among the few eye surgeons in the country trained in performing lamellar keratoplasties. He has performed numerous deep anterior lamellar keratoplasties (dalk), automated anterior lamellar keratoplasty (alk) and descemet stripping endothelial keratoplasty (dsek). He is among the few surgeons who do keratoprosthesis surgery. He has gifted sight to many who could not see due to corneal pathologies by performing corneal transplantation. He has a special interest in treatment of paediatric corneal diseases and ocular surface injuries including chemical and thermal injuries to the eye. He has been trained in the use of amniotic membrane for acute presentations of such patients without the use of sutures. He is one of the very few eye surgeons in the country to obtain the training of sophisticated technique of limbal stem cell transplantation and keratoprosthesis and this has benefited his patients.
