Dr Anjali Karira considers psychiatry to be the only branch which deals with issues beyond basic medical needs. “The scope of psychiatry extends into patient care, interaction with their families, spreading awareness in community and much more.”She completed her post graduation from the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College and General hospital in Sion, Mumbai. She has 7years in clinical practice to her credit along with experience as lecturer at Dr DY Patil Medical College & Hospital. She is the Assistant Honorary psychiatrist at the BMC-run Shatabdi Hospital, Govandi, Mumbai. Currently her areas of practice include Bandra, Chembur and Kurla. She follows the practice of unconditional positive regard for her patients and believes in optimizing the individuals’ coping skills. Her empathy and ability to give real life examples helps clients to achieve their true potential. She relies on psychotherapy sessions and lifestyle changes as much as on psychopharmacology to optimize patients’ mental health.She has received training in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Transactional Analysis and Hypnotherapy. Her areas of interest include Child, Adolescent & Geriatric psychiatry and De-addiction.
