Dr. Vikas Punamiya underwent postgraduate training in Pulmonary Medicine from Sir J. J. Group of Hospitals. Subsequently, he spent the next 10 years in United Kingdom & Australia where he trained in the newer techniques in diagnostic bronchoscopy, intensive care medicine as well as specialized in Sleep Disorders.For the past 3 years, he had been working with Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital, where he assisted in setting up the Pulmonary Medicine Department. He has now decided to join private practice & am currently affiliated with Breach Candy Hospital, Gleneagles Global Hospital & Punamiya Hospital, Mumbai.His areas of interest are Endobronchial Ultrasound Bronchoscopy, a helpful technology in diagnosing & staging Lung Cancer, as well as diagnosing causes of mediastinal lymphadenopathy; Medical Thoracoscopy & its application in Pleural diseases; Non – Invasive ventilation (Acute & Domiciliary); & Sleep Disorders.He also manages all general respiratory problems such as Asthma, COPD, Bronchiectasis, Interstitial Lung Diseases, Tuberculosis & Multidrug - Resistant Tuberculosis, Benign Pleural Diseases, Pleural & Lung cancers.He has conducted audits & has been part of clinical trials during his training, presenting at international conferences & have also been published in International peer-reviewed journals.
