HYOSCINE BUTYL BROMIDE+PARACETAMOL belongs to the muscle cramps lowering agent, which is primarily used to treat abdominal cramps. An abdominal cramp is an uncontrolled muscular contraction that includes muscle in the abdomen or of any hollow organ within the abdomen. Cramps mostly cause abdominal pain and discomfort. Some common reasons that may lead to abdominal cramps involve indigestion, menstruation, irritable bowel syndrome (a disorder that affects the large intestine), flatulence, use of some drugs, etc. 

HYOSCINE BUTYL BROMIDE+PARACETAMOL is a combination of two medicines: Hyoscine butyl bromide and paracetamol. Hyoscine butyl bromide works by relaxing the muscles in your gut (intestine) and stomach. It breaks sudden muscle contractions (spasms), reducing cramps, bloating, pain, and discomfort. On the other hand, paracetamol is a pain reliever (analgesic) that prevents the release of some chemical messengers that result in pain. Together they relieve the abdominal cramp.

Directions for Use

HYOSCINE BUTYL BROMIDE+PARACETAMOL is available in the form of a tablet. Take the HYOSCINE BUTYL BROMIDE+PARACETAMOL orally. The doctor determines the dose and duration of the medicine. Swallow the HYOSCINE BUTYL BROMIDE+PARACETAMOL as a whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break it. You can take medicine with or without food. Take the HYOSCINE BUTYL BROMIDE+PARACETAMOL at a fixed time every day. Do not abruptly stop the HYOSCINE BUTYL BROMIDE+PARACETAMOL even if your symptoms get better.

Drug Warnings

Do not take HYOSCINE BUTYL BROMIDE+PARACETAMOL if you are allergic to ‘hyoscine butyl bromide, paracetamol, or any other ingredients present in it. Before taking HYOSCINE BUTYL BROMIDE+PARACETAMOL, inform your doctor if you have a fast heart rate or any other type of heart disease, liver disease, and kidney disease. Inform your doctor if you have glaucoma, myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness), thyroid problems while taking HYOSCINE BUTYL BROMIDE+PARACETAMOL. If you have difficulty passing in urine, constipation, and fever, immediately contact your doctor before taking HYOSCINE BUTYL BROMIDE+PARACETAMOL. If you have a condition where the intestine is blocked and does not work properly. Symptoms include severe abdominal pain with lack of stools and/or nausea/vomiting than do not take this HYOSCINE BUTYL BROMIDE+PARACETAMOL. It is advisable not to take HYOSCINE BUTYL BROMIDE+PARACETAMOL if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Drive or operate heavy machinery with caution while taking HYOSCINE BUTYL BROMIDE+PARACETAMOL as some people may have vision problems while taking this HYOSCINE BUTYL BROMIDE+PARACETAMOL.

Drug-Drug Interaction:

 HYOSCINE BUTYL BROMIDE+PARACETAMOL may interact with medicines to control your heartbeat (quinidine, disopyramide), medicines for severe mental illness (haloperidol, fluphenazine), medicines used for breathing problems (tiotropium, ipratropium, atropine), medicines for nausea (metoclopramide), medicines for depression (doxepin).

Drug-Disease Interaction:

 HYOSCINE BUTYL BROMIDE+PARACETAMOL should be used with caution in patients with severe liver and kidney failure, narrow-angle glaucoma (increased pressure inside the eye), enlarged prostate gland, inflammatory conditions of the gastrointestinal system (gut), blockage in the small intestine (pyloric stenosis), and rapid heart rate.

Safety Advice

Alcohol may worsen the underlying condition that causes spasms.

PREGNANCY

It is advisable do not take HYOSCINE BUTYL BROMIDE+PARACETAMOL if you are pregnant or likely to get pregnant. Your doctor may prescribe HYOSCINE BUTYL BROMIDE+PARACETAMOL if he/she thinks the benefits overweigh the risks.

BREAST FEEDING

DRIVING

HYOSCINE BUTYL BROMIDE+PARACETAMOL may cause vision problems in some people. So, it is advisable not to drive or operate heavy machinery while taking HYOSCINE BUTYL BROMIDE+PARACETAMOL until your vision improves.

LIVER

HYOSCINE BUTYL BROMIDE+PARACETAMOL contains paracetamol in higher doses can stop liver functioning and should be used on doctors' recommendation in patients with liver diseases.

KIDNEY

HYOSCINE BUTYL BROMIDE+PARACETAMOL to be taken with caution, especially if you have a history of Kidney diseases/conditions. The dose may have to be adjusted by your doctor.
