About Novatex 1000mg Injection

CEFOTAXIME belongs to a group of antibiotics known as third-generation cephalosporin. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that works against various types of bacteria. CEFOTAXIME generally prescribed for the lower respiratory tract, genito-urinary tract, central nervous system, intra-abdominal infections, bone and joint infections, skin infections, gynecologic infections, and septicemia. It is stable against the action of most β-lactamases. CEFOTAXIME is active against numerous gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including several with resistance to other antibiotics such as penicillin.

Harmful & infectious bacteria can reproduce quickly in your body. These harmful bacteria produce chemicals known as toxins, which can damage tissue and make you sick. CEFOTAXIME act by destroying the outer protein layer thereby killing the bacteria (bactericidal). CEFOTAXIME does not work against infections caused by viruses including cold and flu.

CEFOTAXIME is a broad-spectrum parenteral cephalosporin antibiotic, which covers a wide range of bacterial infections. CEFOTAXIME exerts its bactericidal action through inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis. It is stable against the action of most β-lactamases. Besides this, its broad-spectrum activity makes the drug effective in multiple infections like lower respiratory tract, genito-urinary tract, central nervous system, intra-abdominal infections, bone and joint infections, skin infections, gynecologic infections, and septicemia. It can be used safely in children if taken at the prescription of the doctor.

Directions for Use

CEFOTAXIME should not be used unless prescribed by a doctor. CEFOTAXIME is given by injection into a muscle or vein as directed by your doctor. If given by injection into a vein, inject the drug slowly over at least 3 minutes to avoid possible serious side effects (such as irregular heartbeat). You are recommended not to exceed the dosage & duration of CEFOTAXIME prescribed by the doctor. Do not to use CEFOTAXIME yourself at home.

Drug Warnings

After taking  CEFOTAXIME if you have allergy-like symptoms including rash,  swelling of the face/lips/throat, difficulty in breathing, or tightness in the chest, immediately contact your doctor. Do not take CEFOTAXIME if you have an allergy to CEFOTAXIME, cephalosporins penicillin class of antibiotics as it may cause a skin rash, itching, and difficulty in breathing. People having liver disease or jaundice (yellowing of skin/eye) should not take CEFOTAXIME, as it can damage your liver severely. You may have diarrhea in some cases which can be managed by taking it with any probiotics and plenty of fluids.
