After qualifying from Birmingham University, he completed his orthopedic training in the midlands.From 1990 to 1997, he worked as a consultant orthopedic surgeon at City Hospital, Birmingham, where in addition to undertaking surgery, he established the orthopedic department as a clinical director.In 1997, he moved to Royal Orthopedic Hospital, where he undertook arthroscopic surgery of the hip, knee shoulder and ankle joints. He also carried out replacement surgery pertaining to these joints. He devised minimally invasive (mi) hip resurfacing and minimally invasive hip replacement surgery using specifically designed instruments by himself.
